If you are a new RV owner, there are some important RV accessories you should get before your first road trip. Though not complete, this list shows essential items that will help protect your RV and boost convenience.

Leveling Blocks are Essential RV Accessories

Leveling blocks are necessary at almost every campsite. Even if the site is paved, it still might be on a slope. A sloped camper floor can cause people to slip and fall and makes it uncomfortable to live in. Leveling blocks solve this problem by making the vehicle level when placed at the appropriate tires once the RV is parked. They also help prevent the tires from sinking into the ground if the dirt beneath is soft.

Separate Drinking and Sewer Hoses

You’ll need to get a water hose dedicated to potable water and one to drain your sewer tank. Get an attachment to connect the two ends while not in use so that nothing can climb into the hoses. The sewer hose should be at least 15-20 feet long.

Surge Protector

You can save your RV electrical system in the event of a power surge with a surge protector. This device will automatically shut off your RV’s power when it detects a surge. Get a 30 or 50 amp surge protector depending on the electrical capacity of your RV.

Disposable Gloves

Disposable gloves are important to always keep onboard your RV. Whenever you need to dump the grey or black water tank or touch the sewer hose or connections, be sure to protect your hands from dirt and bacteria with gloves.

RV GPS

An RV GPS is a useful tool that helps you find the best routes based on your RV specifications like height, weight, and towing length. You’ll bypass bridges that are too low and tunnels that are too narrow, which can save you a lot of time when you’re on the road.

RV Accessories Include a Water Pressure Regulator

The water pressure is not always consistent at RV parks. When the water pressure is too high, it can damage your RV’s pipes. A water pressure regulator will prevent this issue.

There are many other things you’ll need for your RV, but this list is a good starting point for essential items.
